Art Student Survival: Finding Inspiration.

Inspiration  has to be the hardest process to begin with whether it is Art, Decorating, Music and etc. We live on a modern day society where everything is on repeat to the point where it gets boring. So I have decided to give words to what I have expirence.

Inspiration is everywhere, you just got to find it.

(Armada art festival)

From the art vendor across town to your own home, inspiration can be everywhere. It's there, you just don't see it. We are human beings with an imagination, we can turn something dull into something beautiful. There is a place for inspiration and we have to seize it at will.

Don't hold back on imagination

(Old high school project)

Speaking of imagination, it is not only a place to escape but to withdraw creativity no matter how weird or crazy it seems to be. Imagination is in our heads and at this point in our lives, no one is there to judge. Just remember if it seems great to you, draw it down before you instantly forget about it.

Be patient

It takes a lot of time to find inspiration, sometimes it could take days or even weeks to find it. But don't be discourage to find yourself empty. But once it hits you. It will hit you like a wrecking ball and all the thoughts and creativity will be glorious.

Art Student Survival 101: Money Is Funny

One of the biggest problems for an art student is money. No matter how much money you save, you cry a little every time you walk into that art supply store. So here is some advice to dry those tears away!

Quality over Quantity-

There is a reason why some art stuff cost more than others and why they are considered to be a better investment in the long run. But what you have to do is to pick which one is worth the investment like for example paint, most cheap acrylic paints (That I have used) are very watery, less opaque and can finish easily compared to more expensive acrylics.

Get what you need-

Never spend on something by impulse, because it is your money being thrown away after all, so before you even think about buying that ridiculously over priced something..well think again!

Reuse, Recycle and spontaneous -

If there is a canvas lying around that is has a failed attempt of a painting, sketch, or etc on it, don't hesitate to reuse them because it's a waste. All you need is good quality white paint and your good. If there is pencils, pens lying around your house which have been tucked away somewhere, use them. Be spontaneous, Art is an excuse to be spontaneous. See what you have and find away to use them. It saves money and makes extra points for creativity.

Be on a strict Budget -

Before you go out and buy your art stuff, buy food. Because for me, after I buy food it usually makes me more money hungry and  determined what I want to get.If that doesn't work, just remember the value of money and investment because when you're in a place filled with things that interest you, it can be very distracting and blocks the actual reason you were there in the first place .So Remember!

When You Get A Cat

1. Their lives are always on the conversation tables. Always.

"Look what the John did today" "Oh my god the kittens did what?" "One time Ygritte.." And the list goes on and on. It's amazing how the things they do, no matter how boring or ridiculous they can be - we immediately start the 'cat topic' on the table. They are mysterious little guys we can't help but try to unravel.

2. There is hair literally everywhere!

From the bed sheets to your favorite sweatshirt, there is bound to be cat hair somewhere and the worse part is that it is hard to get rid of. I still have hairs on my sweat shirt even after a few tries in the laundry.

3. You question how famous Instagram pets stay put.

I don't know about your cat, but mine hates being photographed. It took me hours to get the right shot with the right lighting. I don't know how grumpy cat can do it all.

4. You think about them constantly.

One minute your an average human being and the next your a crazy cat lady. You love them more than life itself. It's as simple as that.

5. They give you a different kind of love.

Even though they make you angry or frustrated. They teach you the weirdest things and your grateful for that at the end of the day. Their weird, adorable but sophisticate in certain ways you can't describe.

Note: This is entirely based on my experience with my own cats.

A Little Place On The Internet

 Greetings Viewers!

I'm Syasya Harry and this blog is my little place on the internet. Currently sixteen going on seventeen, this blog going on one day old.

My hopes for the Violet Effect will be where I showcase everything.

From my artwork, small fabrication projects, a little beauty and the occasional cat post. For now, I'm slowly building up photos and learning the technical side of blogging. Technology has never been a strong suit. Still, I am determined to get the gist of it and it'll be smooth sailing from there. I cross my fingers.

I will showcase my art from the early stages.  The sketching, test painting, trials and tribulations to the finishing project. All while in college with a limited budget.

That is all I have to say for now, I am nervous but excited. I have been wanting to do this for so long! So thank you for reading and enjoy!
